Canadian Visitor Record

Visitor Record is an essential document for any individual to stay longer in Canada. If you are on temporary resident visa such as a student permit, work permit, PGWP and are not able to renew your permit inside Canada, then Canadian Visitor Record can be an option for you. Please read this article further below to know your options.

Is your LMIA work permit expiring in Canada?

If your employer specific work permit is expiring and your employer is not willing to renew your work contract for another LMIA, then the best option is to apply for a Visitor Record (VR) inside Canada. It gives you time for at least a year to think about your options and look for a job with another employer. Visitor Record helps you buy some time without losing your status in Canada.

Visitor Record is not a visa stamped on your passport. Neither it can be used as a document to travel in and outside Canada. It is a document that is issued on a paper that mentions the validity of your current status in Canada. Please note, VR cannot be used to continue your employment or work inside Canada. This permit (VR) basically allows you stay in Canada as a visitor.

Visitor Record (VR) can also be applicable to any international student in Canada. Any international student who wants to study further after the expiry of their permit can apply for it while they look for admissions and approval of another study permit inside Canada.

Moreover, anybody with an expiring PGWP (Post Graduate Work Permit) who still needs time to get a job with an employer in Canada, can apply for visitor record to buy some time.

For more details and to know how to apply for it, you can book a consultation with our office. Even if you currently have an expired permit, we can still help you apply for visitor record (VR) to renew your status and legally extend the duration of your stay in Canada.
